THE CREATIVE AGE: Exploring Potential in the Second Half of Life, a National Leadership Exchange and Conference on Creative Aging. June 10 through 14, 2014 ● Washington, DC
To convene leaders from local to international across the sectors of aging, arts, health, and social services who are dedicated to promoting and sustaining creative expression as vital to healthy aging. This conference intends to build capacity as well as showcase creative aging programs in greater metropolitan Washington, DC.
TheNational Leadership Exchange and Conference main day will take place June 12th at Arena Stage. Attendees in arts, healthcare, education, and social services will experience a full day of breakout sessions along four tracks: health and wellness, lifelong learning, community engagement, and research and policy. Within those for tracks, attendees will be able to choose between research forums, best practice exchanges, capacity building exchanges, and experiential workshops where they’ll learn about programs and practice happening across the country and abroad.
Keynotes include those by Liz Lerman, guest artist, MacArthur Genius grant recipient, and creator of Healing Wars; Tim Carpenter, Ashoka Fellow, 2011 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award recipient, Founder and Director, EngAGE; Susan Perlstein, American Society on Aging: Gloria Cavanaugh Award for Excellence in Training, Founder, NCCA and Elders Share the Arts, and more.
